I liked the story, I have actually played through it twice now, once on Hard and all the way to the last mission on Brutal (not sure how to beat that one as of yet). I thought the best part was the Zeratul missions especially the last one, which i thought was the best mission in the game. I would speculate on the expansion with the zerg and all, but don't want to spoil it yet for people that have yet to beat the game.

I just beat the campaign today (way longer than I expected) and I must say it was top notch quality wise. Did anyone else get a mass effect vibe from the whole ship atmosphere/upgrade system?

About the story. Meh. I never really cared for starcraft. They didn't really do a good job with Tycus or whatever his name was. I actually wanted to shoot him in the face earlier in the game and was very disappointed when I couldn't. I really didn't like the ending. Not that it was bad. It was just bad for a first part of a trilogy. It just doesn't leave a good transition into act 2.

Although having Kerrigan not be zerg going to the zerg expansion really raises an eyebrow as to who or what is "the heart of the swarm."

My guess is that weird protoss/zerg hybrid will be the new heart of the zerg. That seemed the case in the premonition mission.

She may be able to still control the zerg was what I was thinking. It would explain how the zerg are sided with the terran and protoss when they need to battle the "dark voice"

Voidrays will still rape the vikings, especially if they have the move speed upgrade. I watched 5 void rays kill 4 vikings and a BC at the same time today.

5 void rays is quite expensive. If the BC were traded to the equal cost of vikings, it might be different.

The real question with the ending is clearly Kerrigan's hair. Is it going to go back to red or keep those weird infested dreadlock looking things?

I bet most of the zerg campaign is going to be Kerrigan somehow gaining control of the zerg while fighting some more hybrid stuff. Or maybe her fighting Mengsk to keep him from doing something to mess the whole situation up. Or maybe the Young Mengsk does some betrayal stuff and she has to rescue Raynor or something. Either way she is going to have some kind of way to get control of at least some of the zerg.

Vikings own Void Rays hands down. Only way void rays would win 5 on 4 is no viking upgrades with void rays being upgraded themselves. Besides, with the cheap cost of vikings and a reactor, a good player would have two or 3 vikings per void ray. Void Ray damage is weak and takes a while to build up. focusing them down one by one eliminates the challenge.

A viking/banshee combo is easily the most powerful combo to get out for the resource cost. Cloak your banshees, immediately take out any detectors, and use the vikes for anti-air protection while your banshees kill everything on the ground. As long as you produce it fast you have a high win chance.

This is of course assuming you let the battle get that far. Depending on how your opponent plays mass marine or marine/marauders can net you the win.

As far as kerrigan goes, I haven't beaten the game yet so I feel kinda spoiled, but I expected it with the title of the thread. Bliz already said her campaign is going to play with RPG like qualities. Kerrigan is going to level up through an experience system in the campaign, So maybe she'll learn how to control zerg units or something along that nature.

Just beat the last mission on Brutal, had to play through the whole story a third time to get the right tech and it was still insanely chaotic, but was damn fun. I noticed this time that in that revolver Raynor has there is only one bullet, clearly meant for Emperor Mengsk, but he has to use it on Findley, hence the "We all got our choices to make" line. Just a piece of information i noticed I wanted to share.
